Susan B. Anthony, Activist
- Before the Civil War she spoke out against slavery in spite of being threatened by armed and angry audiences.
- She led campaigns for equal pay for equal work.
- She urged women to join labor unions or to start their own when men refused to allow them in.
- She led many successful campaigns to admit women to colleges and "male" professions.
- She headed petition drives and hearings that convinced state legislatures to give married women guardianship of their own children and the right to divorce abusive husbands.
- She was co-editor of and writer for "The Revolution", a feminist newspaper, and co-author of three volumes of "The History of Woman Suffrage".
- And for many years she was president of the National Woman Suffrage Association.
What can we learn from Susan B. Anthony's 50 + years of activism? Come and find out!
