1. What is a Women’s Center?
|
It is envisioned as a multi-purpose building to be used by non-profits and other service providers, primarily addressing issues of concern to women, with the goal of supporting women in all their endeavors as well as the needs of local organizations focusing on women in the community.

2. Why is multi-purpose space important to women ?
|
Today more than ever, women are asking for a place designed to provide a "One-Stop Shop" providing them with comprehensive access to information, resources & services.

3. What are the proposed Vission, Mission and goals of the Center?
|
The vision is to create a community-based, self-sustaining facility to be used by women from all backgrounds working together, celebrating diversity in the Valley within a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, multi-service Center for women and girls.
At the heart of a successful Women’s Center would be this shared vision and a unifying mission with the empowerment of women & girls as a common focus. This would provide the foundation for all other strategic decisions about building, services, programs, tenants, and governance.
The goals would be to provide access to –
Coordinated programs & services with a one-stop shop approach with a focus on developing women’s economic knowledge and power.
The Center's future goals would also include :
Incubator opportunity by creating an environment for the early development of nonprofit organizations exclusively focused on women’s issues similar to a business incubator.
Affordable space for organizations needed for optimal interaction and collaboration among women in Silicon Valley.

4. What services would it provide the women in the community?

The Cardea Center does not offer & implement direct services &programs; its main aspect is to be an open forum, fostering collaborations with service providers and community based organizations to connect women of all ages to resources in order to facilitate their advancement. Focus areas are:
Economic advancement
Personal Development and Self-Enrichment
Civic and community engagement and leadership
Advocacy and Public Policy

5. What are some of the services that could be available at the Center for the nonprofits?

6. How would the Center be financed?
|
Financing the center will require a combination of sources such as :
Capital Campaigns: a targeted fund solicitation strategy that asks for donations from individuals, businesses, and foundations.
Community Loan Funds: Organizations that provide nonprofit facility loans as well as technical assistance.

7. Where would the Center be located?
|
The most important consideration for the choice of location would be its easy accessibility to public & private transportation, in an area centrally located in the Silicon Valley region. Other considerations would include the easy availability of an existing building adaptable to our needs.
