We, the undersigned, join the collaborative effort to find a building in a central location to be an umbrella for women's organizations, resources and activities in Santa Clara County.
This would provide a much needed physical space for many
of the local women's organizations and community groups.
As of now there is nothing like this in the Valley.

Our vision is to create a community-based, self-sustaining facility to be used by women from all backgrounds working together. We believe this much-needed center should minimally include space for non-profits, offices and meeting rooms, providing the proximity so helpful for interaction among women's groups. 

The Women's Building in San Francisco, which was created in the early 1970s against enormous obstacles, is an inspiration for us. For over 30 years, women in San Francisco have been able to turn to its Women Building in times of crisis. Thousands of women have been empowered by the organizations housed in this building. 

Santa Clara County is the largest county in Northern California and Silicon Valley has been called the "Feminist Capitol of the Nation" and yet we do not have a Women's Center. 

Now is the time to follow San Francisco's example and establish a Women’s Center in our county.
